1. Get Grass Growing
September is a great month to focus on lawn care. Whether your grass could benefit from overseeding, re-seeding, or a complete makeover with new sod, Strader’s is here to help you complete your lawn renovation project. We have a large assortment of grass seed, including Scotts®, Jonathon Green®, and T.L.C. Tall Fescue blends. Strader’s also typically has Bluegrass sod in stock—just call ahead to check availability!

Even if your lawn looks good now, we recommend fertilizing before the first frost so your dormant grass has the proper nutrients to last through the long winter months ahead.
2. Put Down New Roots
Fall is the ideal season for planting! With cooler air temperatures and warm soil to promote healthy root development, now’s the time to install trees, shrubs, perennials, and evergreens around your yard. You can even put plants in the ground that have been cut back or that have dropped foliage for the year. Plus, when you take advantage of this season’s weather and warmer soil, next year you’ll notice more growth and beautiful blooms!
Don’t forget to amend soil with Bumper Crop® or Posy Power™ and finish with Bio-Tone® when you plant this fall!
3. Mum’s the Word
Our Strader’s greenhouses are overflowing with the quintessential flower of fall: chrysanthemums. With mums available in 4”, 8” and 10” pots as well as hanging baskets, we grow a huge selection annually in all color varieties from red to orange, bronze, yellow, white, pink, purple, and even coral. Stop by your local Strader’s and take your pick while they last!
4. Bring Home a Fall Harvest
At Strader’s, we change with the weather. That’s why we’ve updated our store selections with a harvest of home decor for fall. Our indoor and outdoor accents include metal yard art, porch signs, doormats, wreaths, scarecrows, and more! We’ve also stocked up on seasonal scents like Swan Creek candles and wax melts.
5. Celebrate the Great Indoors
As you refresh your wardrobe for fall, don’t forget to give your home a makeover as well! We have new houseplants arriving each week to each of our six locations, plus this year we’ve expanded our selection of pottery so you can add splashes of color and tropical foliage around your home.
