TIP OF THE MONTH
November
There’s still time to feed your lawn, it’s too late for weed control but fall is one of the best times to fertilize. Fertilize now with Scott’s Super Winterguard.
Fall is for planting, Ornamental Cabbage, Kale, Tulips Hyacinths, Crocus, Daffodils, Trees, Shrubs and Evergreens. The soil is still warm, allowing new plants to root well before the winter.
Make sure all your plants are well watered before the first hard freeze, Evergreens will benefit from a good watering and being sprayed with an Anti-transpirant (Bonide Wilt Stop) to prevent winter burn. A second application of Wilt Stop, with temperatures above freezing, in 2 months will greatly improve plant protection.
Time to think snow, get your snow throwers in for service before the rush, it seems everyone waits until the first snow and wounders why the wait is so long. It’s a great time to purchase a new snow thrower with prices being at the lowest of the season but don’t wait when it snows prices go up!
One quick last note about the upcoming Christmas Season, remember out troops. Regardless of our feelings about the war they are still our soldiers and deserve all our respect and support, take a little time and send a soldier a letter, card or maybe even a small gift.
